AdvanTec Global Family Sends Support to Victims of Typhoon Haiyan

 Posted on Dec 23, 2013

LANGLEY, British Columbia, December 23, 2013 – Well wishes for those impacted by Typhoon Haiyan were often heard in the halls of AdvanTec companies this holiday season, as AdvanTec employees worked to raise funds to help the victims of the devastating super typhoon.

AdvanTec Global Innovations employees gave $3,200 to help in the recovery efforts, and AdvanTec Global Innovations generously matched the amount its employees raised, bringing the total to $6,400.

Additionally, thanks to The Government of Canada’s donation match program, the final donation amount was even more.

Typhoon Haiyan left the people of the Philippines devastated and in unbelievable need. “As a global company that works with people in all parts of the world, we want to help where we can, understanding that the interconnectedness we all share in our global village means taking action and doing what we can whenever possible,” AdvanTec CEO Paul Hill shared with his employees in an email shortly after the storm.

According to figures provided by the Canadian Red Cross, the typhoon that struck the eastern Philippines on Nov. 8 killed more than 6,100 people and displaced at least 4 million others. According to the Associated Press, many people will be marking the holidays amid deprivation, in tents and makeshift homes, and are still faced with the collection and identification of those who lost their lives in the typhoon and its aftermath.

AdvanTec worked through the Red Cross to ensure swift, responsible delivery of the AdvanTec family’s donation.
